Super Staff

As the new school year begins we would like you to know more about the new additions to our school staff.

We would like to welcome Mrs. mindy Ponter, the new sixth grade teacher, to Good Shepherd School. In 1985, Mrs. Ponter graduated from minersville, and in 1989 she graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Math. Currently Mrs. Ponter is taking classes at Alvernia College to expand her teaching skills.

Mrs. Ponter is happliy married and has two children. Her husband's name is Jim and her two children's names are Evan, who is in fourth grade, and Amanda, who is in first grade.

Mrs. Ponter and her family belong to Saint Francis Church. Most of her time is taken up by taxiing her children to their activities.

One thing she feels very strongly about is that all children should be treated with respect, kindness, care, and love. Having her own children helped her to realize what a gift her children are!

Mrs. Ponter believes that once she puts her mind to something and works hard, success is sure to follow. We wish her much success and many years of happiness at Good Shepherd School.

Super Staff Part 2

When it comes to music, gym, and office papers Mrs. Pastula is always behind the desk. Even though she has many jobs here at Good Shepherd she specializes in Music. She began playing the piano when she was eight years old and was taught by the Sisters of St. Joseph. She uses music to express her feelings and to release energy. Mary Jane Pastula says that "music is always there for you and you can never forget it." With music she has learned to think quickly and to have self-confidence. The things she likes about her job are that she loves music and sharing it with the kids, and she likes to watch the children grow up to be young adults.

In Mrs. Pastula's free time she likes to be involved with Nativity's Green and Gold Club, Development Committee, and she is also President of the Band Parent's Association. She also enjoys being the the organist at St. Vincent de Paul Parish.

Mrs. Pastula is a welcome addition at Good Shepherd School and we hope she enjoys many years of teaching students the art of Music.
