Healthy bodies to accompany productive minds and happy spirits!
Students have physical education one day each week. On their given gym day, they must wear the St. Ambrose gym uniform to school and remain in it throughout the day. Sneakers are to be worn with the gym uniform. If a student wishes to wear the gym uniform shorts for gym, he/she must wear their gym sweat pants over them at all times other than during gym class except in September, October, May and June (weather permitting). Please label your child's clothing with their name whenever possible.

Our gym uniform includes a short-sleeved grey T-shirt, a long-sleeved grey T-shirt and a long-sleeved grey or black sweatshirt with the St. Ambrose logo. The pants of the uniform can be grey fleece, black fleece or red mesh with the St. Ambrose logo. In the warmer weather, students can wear red mesh shorts with the school logo with the grey T-shirts.

The Physical Education Program at St. Ambrose seeks to introduce the students to sports which they will further develop at the high school level.

Students participate in cross country training, tennis, baseball, volleyball, soccer, basketball , kickball, softball, floor hockey and flag football. They also experience a medley of track events.

Students in the lower grades (Kindergarten through 4th) enjoy games such as horseshoes, ping pong and gym bowling. A highlight for the 5th and 6th graders is an annual field trip to a local bowling alley for several games. The 7th and 8th graders experience the thrill of hiking during their annual physical education field trip.

During the past school year, St. Ambrose School held a "mini-Olympics" to coincide with the 2002 Winter Olympics. Students participated in games which reflected the official Olympic games.
