I am Melissa Kirwan and I have been in the Literature Club for three years. Since I am leaving, I want to tell all future students that this is a very fun club and everyone should join. I would like to leave part of me behind so here are some of my favorite writings.
America Under Attack
4 planes hijacked, 3 targets hit,
2 buildings collapsed, 1 missed it's target
Millions of people scared, thousands of people dead
The World Trade Center, the center of America's economy
Gone --
One side of the Pentagon, the center of America's military
Gone --
September 11th, 2001 will be remembered as a day of death
A day of destruction, a day of agony, a day of terror
How do I feel?
Scared,angry, worried
That day, that horrid day
America, our America, was tested
Will America fail? Will America pass?
Those people will not, I say not, die in vain
We will capture and punish those people
No, those monsters
No act of terrorism will ever, ever,
Break this Country apart,America will triumph
So terrorists beware --
America will find you,America will conquer you
And as many people say, God Bless America!
Goodbye
Walking away from everything I know
I walk these halls one more time
My life is changing
For better?
For worse?
I don't know
I look through these empty halls and . . .
Remember . . .
Remember the nine years I have spent here
Making friends,
Making memories,
I walk through these doors one last time
And stop
Just stop and think
Of the fun times,
The sad times,
My times . . . here
"Goodbye," I whisper
I look at my friends
"Goodbye."

Melissa read at the Navy Club Pearl Harbor Day Event this year in Minersville.
